It Is Time to Get Down to Business

Now that the dust has settled from a very long week of stormy weather and installation parties for our local associations, it is time to get down to business.  We opened this week with a holiday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  As I reflect on what his life’s legacy was all about, I am grateful for his messages of Peace, Fairness, Inclusion and pure love for humanity.  What an inspirational man and leader he was.  While his life was cut short, his legacy is emblazoned on our hearts forever.

When it comes to Real Estate and Fair Housing in general, our communities and this association are still making efforts to this day to rectify social injustices and eliminate bias from our business.  I would like to challenge everyone who wants to be part of the solution to take action by getting the  “At Home With Diversity” Designation from NAR as a symbol of your dedication to Fair Housing. To better wrap your head around the subject, you can also read The Color of Law. Wouldn’t it be great to have the majority of our members get this designation? Now that would say something.

So, what is happening this week around SAR??  On the 24th, the Education Department is having a class on Taxes and whether a corporation is right for your business. This should be a good one because let’s face it, no one ever wants to pay MORE Taxes! Also on the 25th, YPN is having their monthly mixer at BarWestit’s free, but please RSVP here. If you want to keep up with what is happening, you don’t have to wait for the Docket or a Main Meeting. You can always go to the website at www.sacrealtor.org, but another option is to register for alerts by texting SARALERTS to (844)673-7480 and opt-in to start receiving text messages about what is coming up at SAR. If you aren’t seeing the kind of classes you need, you can always reach out to the Education Committee with suggestions. As always, I am available to chat, and I look forward to seeing you around SAR.
