Dear Members,
One of my main priorities for 2022 is to ensure that all SAR members come to better understand and embrace Fair Housing, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. SAR is committed to providing fair and equitable service to all clients, and to upholding the letter and the spirit of fair housing laws. I have asked the entire SAR leadership team to complete the Fair Housing Challenge and to take the At Home with Diversity course. I encourage you all to do the same. The Fair Housing Challenge has three components:
- Fairhaven Simulation — this interactive simulation allows you to walk through several scenarios with a diverse group of buyers and sellers, and to measure how your guidance to these fictional clients aligns with fair housing laws.
- Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing — in this video, you will watch an online workshop to help REALTORS® avoid implicit bias in daily business interactions.
- At Home With Diversity certification: By developing a business practice rooted in inclusion and equality, REALTORS® can help buyers of all cultural backgrounds achieve the dream of homeownership. The At Home With Diversity® (AHWD) certification course covers how to work effectively with diverse populations so that you can build business success in today’s multicultural real estate market.
