Real Estate Internship Program

The purpose of this internship is to provide hands-on experience in a real estate office for college students who would like to pursue a career in the real estate industry. This program, entitled Internship in Real Estate (RE 296), is presented through the joint efforts of Cosumnes River College and the Sacramento Association of REALTORS®.

Students accepted into the program must complete a total of 108 internship hours and attend 18 hours of mandatory scheduled classroom meetings during the semester. Interns who successfully complete this program will earn 3 units of college credit. This class meets the California Department of Real Estate’s education requirements for the Salesperson and Broker licensing exams as a substitute for Real Estate Practice or as an elective.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a Real Estate Principles class.
  • Availability to meet/work with a mentor for 8 hours a week during the work week (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm).

If you are only available in the evenings and/or on weekends, this program is not for you.

  • Availability to attend classroom meetings at the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® on alternating Tuesdays, 2:30-4:30 pm.

There is no pre-enrollment for the internship program. After interviewing with potential mentors, students who have been successfully placed will be given permission numbers to add the class.

As an intern in the program, you will be able to access the multiple listing service as a clerical user. A $50 fee is required for a background check by the MLS provider, MetroList®.

Completed applications are due by 5:00pm on August 9, 2024. Students who meet the eligibility requirements will be contacted to schedule an interview. Interviews will be conducted on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 between 1:00pm and 5:00pm at the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® headquarters, 2003 Howe Avenue, Sacramento. You will be notified whether or not you are accepted by August 23, 2024.
