As member of the SAR Leadership Academy you will gain exposure to a wide variety of SAR’s internal committees, forums, and charitable events while learning about our external partners like C.A.R., MetroList, and city/county governments. Take the opportunity to become well versed in the Association’s operations and take on a leadership role in shaping the future of SAR.

  • Submit an application describing your interest in joining the Academy.
  • Participate in monthly group training sessions held at SAR.
  • Attend a variety of informative meetings and events during the training period.

Leadership Academy Application

In six short months, you can be one of our select Members to graduate from SAR’s Leadership Academy.
Participants gain exposure to a wide variety of SAR’s internal committees, forums, and charitable events while learning about the Association’s external partners like C.A.R., MetroList® and city and county government. Once you’ve completed the Academy, you will be well versed on Association operations and the role leaders play in propelling SAR into the future. While there is no charge, we do ask your commitment to the activities we have planned from April – December.

If selected for this program, you are recognized as an emerging leader in our industry. As a participant you are expected to attend all mandatory sessions and fulfill the other program requirements and sign a Leadership Academy Commitment Letter.

SAR will conduct 15-minute interviews with Applicants.

Participation includes mandatory attendance at the following events and meetings:

  • Series orientation | Monday, February 5, 2024, 1:00-2:30pm
  • Monthly meetings | Typically the 2nd Monday of each month, 1:00-2:30pm, February through November
  • C.A.R. Legislative Day | Wednesday, May 1, 2024, All day

We will also participate in the following activities as a group (some dates to be determined):

  • A City Council meeting and a County Board of Supervisors meeting TBD
  • Tour the State Capitol and meet with a Senator or Assemblymember TBD
  • SAR President’s Appreciation Breakfast – December 2023
  • SAR Board of Director’s meeting May.
  • One Community Volunteer Event TBD
  • You will also be required to attend individually: two SAR Membership meetings, two SAR Committee Meetings (all at your choosing)
  • Write a short summary of your experience with each and be prepared to share that in class.
