Community relationships and partnerships are important to REALTORS®. Supporting safe, affordable housing accessible to all is a common thread through SAR activities and concerns. The Sacramento Association of REALTOR®‘s is involved in various community projects.
We have two committees that carry out SAR’s activities in this area:
Diversity, Inclusion, Equity & Fair Housing Committee and the Community Outreach Committee. Learn more below.
Sacramento is a highly diverse community, and the Membership of the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® thoroughly reflects this attribute. This committee’s mission is to embrace and empower Members through education, communication and leadership to achieve a better understanding of the multi–cultural diversity in our community.
The committee has liaisons to three ethnic chambers, Asian Chamber, Black Chamber, and Hispanic Chamber to help us develop relationships with these communities. They also participate in at least one activity with those chambers or that particular community during the year.
This committee also promotes housing opportunities and affordability in the Sacramento area, while educating the real estate community about their availability.
SAR values the community and encourages its Members to help “give back” whenever possible. Nothing shows you care more than actually taking action. The SAR Volunteer Coordinating Committee researches and develops relationships with local charitable organizations that have a need for volunteers. This committee plans at least one volunteer opportunity for SAR Members per month. From helping rehabilitate a home to serving at a food bank to cleaning up the American River Parkway, there is certainly something for everyone. If you would like to be a part of the SAR Volunteer Reserves list and receive notifications on upcoming opportunities, please contact Tony Vicari at (916) 437–1205.

Notice Regarding Escrow Companies
Many Members have expressed concern about the business practices of some escrow companies. If you believe you are dealing with a company that is violating the law or state regulations, consider filing a complaint with the appropriate state agency. Some escrow companies, generally those operating as a part of a title company, are licensed by the California Department of Insurance. Others, generally independent companies, are licensed by the California Department of Corporations. The complaint forms for each of these agencies may be accessed at the website indicated.
The Department of Corporations regulates mortgage lenders and services and escrow agents. The complaint form can be found here.
The Department of Insurance handles alleged improper handling of an escrow transaction by a title insurer or underwritten title company.
