Robert Winger

It is with deep sadness that SAR announces the passing of long time REALTOR® and Property Manager Robert Winger at the age of 74. Mr. Winger passed peacefully on the morning of February 3.

Robert was a Member of SAR for nearly 30 years and was well known and well liked throughout the local real estate/property management industry. Robert was also very involved with the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM). He will be greatly missed by many. View his full obituary »

Bobbi Glassel

It is with deep sadness that SAR announces the passing of Affiliate Member Bobbi Glassel in December. Bobbi was a much beloved member of the Association for over 20 years. A representative of Energy Efficient Morgages, she eagerly shared her knowledge of EEMs during classes at the Association and presentations at meetings. The word "energy" suited Bobbi as she enthusiastically participated in many SAR activities and was well known for her warm and bubbly personality.

Marjorie Anderson

Marjorie "Marge" Anderson SAR REALTOR® Extraordinaire, passed away Sunday, October 23rd, with her family at her side.
After earning her real estate agent and broker's licenses, Marge began her career in 1969 with the downtown office of Jones & Brand & Hullin, Inc. (JBH) and helped start their Dewey Drive office in Fair Oaks a few years later. She then became part of Coldwell Banker when it acquired JBH in August, 1981. Later, Marge worked for Lyon Real Estate in the Fair Oaks office. Known for her kindness and warmth, Marge always said "she didn't sell houses, she matched families to homes." During her real estate career, Marge set many sales records and won many awards, but she always felt that the true reward was seeing her clients happy. Marge will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Josie La Turner

Josie Oneita La Turner of Cook Realty passed away Saturday, October 15th at the age of 90.
Jo was proud to have been a REALTOR® for over 60 years. She was one of the first female REALTORS® in Sacramento and was instrumental in expanding women’s involvement in in the real estate process, including writing contracts. A Member of SAR for over 40 years, she helped many in their real estate careers and was known as a caring and helpful person. She will be dearly missed by family, friends, and colleagues.

Cathy Snow

Long–time REALTOR® Cathryn "Cathy" Snow passed away peacefully with friends and family at her side on September 22nd after a battle with liver cancer. Cathy was an SAR Member for over 22 years, served on the Board of Directors, and was a close friend to many. She is survived by her son Jeff and daughter Teri.

Elvira Morales

Elvira "Vera" Morales Bernal Bejarano passed away at her home in Sacramento on September 19th. Vera was born on January 29th, 1940 in San Martin Hidalgo. Vera was a real estate broker and served the Sacramento Community for over 37 years with New West, REALTORS®. She will be truly missed by her familiy and all those who knew her.

Jack Lewis

John "Jack" Lewis passed away at his home in Rocklin on June 22nd. Jack was born on March 29th, 1928 in Williston, North Dakota. His family moved to Sacramento when Jack was young and he graduated from McClatchy High School in 1946. Jack was a fixture in local residential real estate for over 50 years, working for Kiernan, Jack Lewis Realty, United Realty (the first local all–broker company), and three Century 21 offices employing hundreds of agents. After selling his business he never truly retired, working to maintain his own investments and mentoring his many friends and family members who still work in local real estate.

Shirley Menasco

Shirley Menasco passed peacefully on May 31st, 2016 after a 2½ year battle with cancer. Most recently with PDF Realty in Elk Grove, Shirley began her career in real estate 30 years ago and moved to Elk Grove in 1976. As a REALTOR®, she was genuinely interested in every single one of her clients. She sold homes to several generations of families in Elk Grove. Shirley lived her life with a full heart and was usually the happiest and most motivating person anyone would meet on a given day. Zeny Sorongon Winn

Zeny Sorongon Winn passed away on May 30th, 2016. She was a REALTOR® for over 10 years in the Sacramento and Placer areas and a past president of the WCR PCAR Chapter. A close friend to many, Zeny will always be remembered for her passion, warmth, and generosity. A webpage was created to help Zeny's daughter with the funeral arrangements.
