Karen Roberts

SAR is deeply saddened to report the passing of long time REALTOR®Karen Roberts on August 3rd. A member since 2005, Karen was widely known in the real estate community and as a lender with National Equity Mortgage for many years. Karen will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her colleagues at National Equity Real Estate Sales. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 9th.

Fadra Baker

SAR is sad to report the passing of long time REALTOR®Fadra Baker. Fadra most recently worked with F. Gregory Estates. She will be greatly missed by family, friends, and colleagues.

Bill Vogel

SAR is sad to report the passing of long time REALTOR® and SAR Past President Bill Vogel at the age of 90. Bill grew up in midtown Sacramento, developing life-long friendships and a love for this city. Bill found his true calling in the real estate business, working with various firms before forming his own company, Vogel Properties. During this time he was active in several organizations associated with the industry and served as President of SAR in 1973. His legacy lives on and he will be greatly missed by family, friends, and many colleagues.

Wayne Burd

With much sadness, we announce that long–time REALTOR® Wayne Burd passed away on March 12th, 2017. Wayne obtained his real estate license in 1969 and spent the last 25 years affiliated with Coldwell Banker Real Estate, mostly in the Folsom area.

Lorraine Lightle

Lorraine Lightle passed away peacefully on February 22nd. Lori was an SAR Member for over 15 years and she was well known as a REALTOR® in the Elk Grove area. She will be missed by all. View her full obituary »

Mark Whisler

It is with deep sadness that SAR announces the passing of long time REALTOR and Property Manager Mark Whisler. Mr. Whisler passed away on February 19th. Mark was a Member of SAR for over 25 years. After earning his BA at UC Berkeley in 1975, Mark settled in Sacramento and began his 40+ year real estate career, becoming a leader in the local financial and real estate industry with his businesses Whisler Financial Group and Whisler Land Company. Robert Winger

It is with deep sadness that SAR announces the passing of long time REALTOR® and Property Manager Robert Winger at the age of 74. Mr. Winger passed peacefully on the morning of February 3.

Robert was a Member of SAR for nearly 30 years and was well known and well liked throughout the local real estate/property management industry. Robert was also very involved with the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM). He will be greatly missed by many. View his full obituary »

Bobbi Glassel

It is with deep sadness that SAR announces the passing of Affiliate Member Bobbi Glassel in December. Bobbi was a much beloved member of the Association for over 20 years. A representative of Energy Efficient Morgages, she eagerly shared her knowledge of EEMs during classes at the Association and presentations at meetings. The word "energy" suited Bobbi as she enthusiastically participated in many SAR activities and was well known for her warm and bubbly personality.

Marjorie Anderson

Marjorie "Marge" Anderson SAR REALTOR® Extraordinaire, passed away Sunday, October 23rd, with her family at her side.
After earning her real estate agent and broker's licenses, Marge began her career in 1969 with the downtown office of Jones & Brand & Hullin, Inc. (JBH) and helped start their Dewey Drive office in Fair Oaks a few years later. She then became part of Coldwell Banker when it acquired JBH in August, 1981. Later, Marge worked for Lyon Real Estate in the Fair Oaks office. Known for her kindness and warmth, Marge always said "she didn't sell houses, she matched families to homes." During her real estate career, Marge set many sales records and won many awards, but she always felt that the true reward was seeing her clients happy. Marge will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Josie La Turner

Josie Oneita La Turner of Cook Realty passed away Saturday, October 15th at the age of 90.
Jo was proud to have been a REALTOR® for over 60 years. She was one of the first female REALTORS® in Sacramento and was instrumental in expanding women’s involvement in in the real estate process, including writing contracts. A Member of SAR for over 40 years, she helped many in their real estate careers and was known as a caring and helpful person. She will be dearly missed by family, friends, and colleagues.

Cathy Snow

Long–time REALTOR® Cathryn "Cathy" Snow passed away peacefully with friends and family at her side on September 22nd after a battle with liver cancer. Cathy was an SAR Member for over 22 years, served on the Board of Directors, and was a close friend to many. She is survived by her son Jeff and daughter Teri.

Elvira Morales

Elvira "Vera" Morales Bernal Bejarano passed away at her home in Sacramento on September 19th. Vera was born on January 29th, 1940 in San Martin Hidalgo. Vera was a real estate broker and served the Sacramento Community for over 37 years with New West, REALTORS®. She will be truly missed by her familiy and all those who knew her.

Jack Lewis

John "Jack" Lewis passed away at his home in Rocklin on June 22nd. Jack was born on March 29th, 1928 in Williston, North Dakota. His family moved to Sacramento when Jack was young and he graduated from McClatchy High School in 1946. Jack was a fixture in local residential real estate for over 50 years, working for Kiernan, Jack Lewis Realty, United Realty (the first local all–broker company), and three Century 21 offices employing hundreds of agents. After selling his business he never truly retired, working to maintain his own investments and mentoring his many friends and family members who still work in local real estate.
